- ops/nginx/: the two nginx sites as they now run on 249. Only ArvanCloud
edges reach the app (direct hits on the IP get 403, so Arvan's DDoS/WAF
can't be skipped); the frontend gets CSP (own sources only, the one inline
script by hash), X-Frame-Options, nosniff, Referrer-Policy,
Permissions-Policy, HSTS; API body limit 100M -> 20M plus HSTS. Checked from
outside and in Chrome (all tabs and an island quiz, logged in): no CSP errors.
- Demo accounts (users 11-15, 25) and TEST_LOGIN_PHONES removed from the server;
the health warning for fixed-code logins now has a test and says how to
test instead (an OTPCode made in the admin).
- SMS daily cap on the server is 2000 (launch of ~600 users).
- CLAUDE.md: never run tests with --parallel on macOS, always --noinput
(both hang forever without an error).

- subscription.0017/0018, payment.0013: pack plans deleted, QuestionCredit/HeartsPass models and Plan.kind /
question_credits / hearts_days / Order.question_credits / hearts_days dropped. The only paid pack order was the
company owner's test account (user 26).
- Assistant: no credit spending; quota is the daily cap only (free 2, every plan 4, gift subscription 4).
- Bazaar: verify_purchase is subscription-only (no inapp guess), start/purchase responses lose productType,
verify refuses an order without a subscription. A paid order with no subscription now logs ERROR.
- Removed POST /api/payment/orders (internal; no caller). Its permission tests stay.
- Pack-based tests rewritten on subscriptions (refund, security, Bazaar token); pack-only test files deleted.
- docs: profit table for 4/day on both payment routes plus free users; handbook, operations, CLAUDE.md current.
949 tests green.

- subscription.0016: prices equal to the Bazaar panel (senior), ai_daily_quota 5/3/3, card features; packs on_sale=False
(one paid pack order, user 26, keeps its credits; pack paths stay for that order and for admin).
- Quota math in docs/ai-cost-and-guardrails.md: ~77% of a Bazaar sale reaches us; worst case (full quota every day)
the assistant costs 23/27/35% of it.
- Assistant quota message points to the subscription, not packs.
982 tests green.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- payment/providers.py: ZarinpalProvider / BazaarProvider with one interface (check_plan, sku_for, payment_url,
purchase_extras, discount_blocker, reconcile_user); provider_for / provider_for_method pick one; unknown fails.
create_order, purchase view, discount redeem and reconcile_user_orders use it instead of scattered ifs.
- subscription.0015: Bazaar SKU 10342 on the one-month plan (owner: "probably the monthly one").
- config/health: the Bazaar check no longer swallows its exception without a log.
982 tests green.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Purchase with paymentMethod=bazaar now works for subscription plans with a bazaar_sku (not only packs);
response carries bazaarProductType. Migration subscription.0014 puts 10343/10344 on the 90/180-day plans.
- Verify asks Bazaar for the right product type (from the order) and stores validUntil (payment.0012).
- POST /api/payment/bazaar/orders/{id}/start: SKU, type, and an HS256 dynamic-price JWT when a discount
code lowered the price (BAZAAR_DYNAMIC_PRICE_KEY); discount on Bazaar orders allowed only with that key
and only before start.
- Auto-renewal: sync_bazaar_renewals re-asks Bazaar when the paid period is near its end (status page and
the paywall via has_subscription_access); each new period becomes a paid order.
- Default BAZAAR_PACKAGE_NAME = com.tadrisino.math.app; health shows bazaarDynamicPrice.
979 tests green. No real Bazaar purchase or renewal tested.

- /api/ai/ask: at most AI_MAX_CONCURRENT_PER_WORKER (12 of 32 threads) answers per worker;
beyond that 503 assistant_busy + Retry-After before any quota is reserved. Without it a
burst of questions (3-40 s each) took every thread and the map and quizzes queued behind.
The slot is held until the stream is actually finished or closed.
- Answer submission 21 -> 14 queries, 15.4 -> 11.0 ms: one query for all choices, locked
get_or_create for node progress and streak, and today's streak recorded once per day
via the cache instead of a transaction per answer.
- /api/home 12.4 -> 8.6 ms: the user's completions are read by user_id instead of an IN list
of ~600 lesson ids; the dict is returned directly (serializer stays the Swagger contract,
HomeMatchesItsSerializerTests keeps them equal).
- otp_login per-IP 30 -> 300/hour: a class of 30 on one school Wi-Fi filled it; guessing is
bounded per code and per phone.
- /api/health aiConcurrency.

Postgres here allows 60 connections, but each of the 96 gunicorn threads held its
own persistent one: at 100 concurrent users (local Postgres with the same limit)
21% of requests were 500 "remaining connection slots are reserved". Now each worker
has a psycopg pool (8), so the same load gives 0 errors and 714 req/s (was 460).
- A full pool answers 503 + Retry-After (DRF handler and middleware), not 500.
- The AI tutor and the OTP SMS call return their connection before the network wait.
- statement_timeout 30 s, idle-in-transaction 60 s; bad pool settings and the old
DB_CONN_MAX_AGE stop startup instead of failing every request.
- /api/health dbPool: per-worker pool stats and workers x pool + 6 vs max_connections.
- Indexes on the columns global counters filter by time (weekly leaderboard,
global SMS cap, global AI cap); the leaderboard recomputes once per expiry.
- Worker count moves into gunicorn.conf.py (4 on a shared 8-core box).
- security doc: Redis item closed (server uses our own Redis since 2026-10-08).

- ops/pgbackup: SSH tunnel + pg_receivewal (slot zareian_247) + daily verified pg_basebackup (keep 7)
and a restore check, all run on 78.38.35.247 as systemd units
- /api/health reports offsiteBackup (slot active/lag/lost) and warns; OFFSITE_WAL_SLOT setting
- removed statuslog backup_db/backup_verify and their health warnings
- deploy.sh keeps 3 pre-deploy dumps, 3 local patches, drops manual backups after 30 days
- docs: operations backup section, security item 14 closed, CLAUDE.md status

Health: public gets only ok/error; details need X-Internal-Key. Docs/schema: admin session only.

The owner decided (2026-10-07) that we do not connect to anything other teams run on the box, Redis
included. CACHE_URL was emptied on the server and our keys were removed from the shared Redis.
- settings: drop KEY_PREFIX / CACHE_KEY_PREFIX (it only existed because the Redis was shared); comments
say CACHE_URL is intentionally empty and ResilientRedisCache is ready for our own Redis.
- config/cache.py docstring and tests updated accordingly (11 tests, still run against a local redis-server).
- CLAUDE.md: new server rule 8 (touch only our own files and service), status block, historical line
that said "db1 is free" now says not to connect. README, operations, handbook, security doc (item 9
reopened as an open decision) say the same.

From the server the public URL goes through ArvanCloud and returned 504/000 (2026-10-07), so the
final health step failed even for a healthy service. It now asks the gunicorn socket (path read from
the unit) with our Host header first. DEPLOY_BUNDLE=<file> fetches from a git bundle instead of Gitea,
only when set explicitly; without it an unreachable Gitea still stops the deploy.
Tested: probe_health against a throwaway unix-socket server and a dead URL (bash -n clean).
Not tested: the whole script end to end, until the next deploy.

- content: POST nodes/{id}/quiz/complete and lessons/{id}/complete refuse a locked island
(403 node_locked, same rule as /api/home) and a user who has not answered every question
(409 answers_missing). Before, only a user with zero hearts and no answers was refused, so
anyone else finished any island, locked or not, and finishing a locked island's lessons
unlocked it. A node or lesson with no questions still passes when unlocked, with no XP.
The client can no longer understate totalQuestions to buy stars.
- throttle_scope on 15 routes that had none (question bank without login, intro, hearts,
notifications, tickets, plans, subscription status, orders, offers, affiliate, assistant
history and feedback, logout).
- admin: OTPCode and Session can only be added/changed by a superuser.
- deploy.sh: integrity-checked DB backup before migrate (keeps the last 2); no migrate without it.
- docs and CLAUDE.md updated to say what is verified and what is not.

accounts.0008 drops the columns and refuses to run while guest rows exist.
Docs describe the current state; tests that only proved guest behaviour are gone.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
POST /api/auth/session is gone (404). Existing is_guest rows keep refresh and
upgrade-by-phone until the demo/guest rows are purged; the code that serves
them is listed in docs/security-before-production.md §10. Tests that used the
endpoint as a fixture now use accounts/testing.guest_session.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Admin: refund/cancel/mark-resolved/Bazaar-link actions need change permission; question and
curriculum import need add/delete; content browser needs view_question; guest device ids are
shown to superusers only.
- Accounts: registering a guest's phone revokes the guest's earlier sessions; self-deletion keeps
Redemption, UserOffer and the phone's OTP rows; the public demo guest cannot be deleted
(DEMO_GUEST_DEVICE_IDS); display-name contact filter covers any separator and social handles.
- Payment: callback without Authority is 400; a second Bazaar purchase on a paid order is 409;
orders snapshot credits/hearts/days at creation (payment.0011).
- Assistant: a broken diagram no longer makes a streamed answer free; a late off-topic marker
refuses the answer (not stored, not cached); a disconnect saves the partial answer; only
KNOWN_COLLECTIONS are searched.
- Infra: secret-key file is created atomically (workers no longer split keys); no default
INTERNAL_SERVICE_KEY; Kavenegar key and Bazaar token kept out of error logs; Swagger/ReDoc
pinned; schema throttled; docker compose bound to 127.0.0.1; non-ASCII digit ids are 400;
ticket text capped at 5000.
- docs/security-before-production.md: remaining open items 24-31 and the guard tests.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- technical-handbook: question packs instead of subscriptions, real
hearts with the new wait screen (screenshot), math-only tutor and what
is charged (new 9-7), admin cancel/refund, Bazaar planId, account
deletion, 59 endpoints, 779 tests, 14 apps, status and open decisions.
- Diagrams redrawn: use-case (buy a pack, refunds), data model
(QuestionCredit, HeartsPass, Profile.birth_date), pack payment sequence.
- The PDF is now built from the Markdown by docs/build_handbook.py
(pandoc + Chrome, font in docs/assets); the hand-made HTML it used to
come from was not in the repo and had been lost.
- architecture, operations, security-before-production (item 13 closed),
ai-cost-and-guardrails and README follow the same changes.

There was no way to take an order back: staff could only edit the
status by hand, and turning 'paid' into 'failed' left the credits,
heart days or subscription days the order had given. Two OrderAdmin
actions now do it:
- cancel a pending order (a payment that does arrive later still counts);
- refund a paid order, after a confirmation page: takes back the pack's
unspent credits (never below zero), its heart days, or the plan's
subscription days, and undoes the referrer's commission.
The money itself is returned in the Zarinpal / Bazaar panel; the action
says so. Status is read-only in the order form. Steps in
docs/operations.md.

The API moved to mathapi.tadrisino2.ir on 2026-09-26 (nginx server_name
changed at 23:22) and api.math.tadrisino2.ir no longer resolves. The code
default for PUBLIC_BASE_URL and the docs' curl examples still named the dead
host, so every paymentUrl, the Zarinpal callback and the Bazaar redirect the
backend builds pointed nowhere. Historical status notes in CLAUDE.md keep the
old name on purpose. config/tests.py now reads the API host from
PUBLIC_BASE_URL instead of a literal. 624 tests green.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A domain change is coming (the Zarinpal terminal rejects the current callback
domain). ALLOWED_HOSTS, CSRF_TRUSTED_ORIGINS, CORS defaults, the Bazaar
redirect URI and deploy.sh's public health URL each spelled the domain out.
They now derive from PUBLIC_BASE_URL and FRONTEND_URL, which keep today's
domain as their default; env values for the three lists are still added on
top, so the old domain can stay allowed while DNS moves.
ZARINPAL_CALLBACK_URL used os.environ.get(key, default), so an empty key in
.env produced an empty callback and every payment would fail closed. It now
uses the same `.strip() or` fallback as its neighbours; the new test caught it.
config/tests_domains.py loads settings in a subprocess with a new domain and
fails if any derived value still mentions the old one. docs/operations.md
gains the step-by-step domain move (DNS, .env, Zarinpal/Bazaar panels,
frontend config.js, verification). CLAUDE.md records that the frontend is
now ours and where the rebuild stands. 624 tests green.

Read against Bazaar's own docs (wp-json of developers.cafebazaar.ir):
both validation URLs were wrong, so no real purchase could ever verify.
In-app is now api/validate/<pkg>/inapp/<sku>/purchases/<token>/, and
subscriptions add the missing /purchases/ and judge validUntil, since
that response has no purchaseState.
Only 404 means "not purchased"; 401/403/5xx now raise 503 so our own
key or quota trouble cannot mark a paid order failed. The client token
is URL-quoted so it cannot steer the request to another API path.
BAZAAR_PISHKHAN_API_SECRET (the documented new method, a static header
token with no OAuth) takes precedence when set; /api/health gains
integrations.bazaar. Not yet exercised by a real purchase.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The Bazaar account owner registered /api/payment/bazaar/verify as the
redirect URI. POST stays the app's purchase check; GET now takes Bazaar's
?code=, exchanges it for a refresh token and stores it in the new
BazaarCredential row, so connecting needs no SSH or .env edit.
The GET is unauthenticated, so it only acts inside a window opened from
the admin (or bazaar_authorize_link): 72 h by default, closed by the first
successful exchange, state checked when Bazaar echoes it. Authorize/token
URL shapes follow the known devapi v2 flow; not checked against Bazaar's
current docs, which did not load.

docs/security-before-production.md records, item by item, what is exposed
on purpose while this is an internship demo: the committed token-signing key
still in use on the server, seven fixed-code demo logins, demo users in the
production database, a public /api/health that reports internal state, a
public API schema, a public leaderboard with children's names, /admin on the
public domain, the server answering on port 80 around ArvanCloud, per-worker
rate limits without Redis, guest login by deviceId alone, unhashed refresh
tokens and OTP codes, AI cost exposure through throwaway guests, hearts not
enforced, SQLite without off-box backups, and shared root access to the box.
Each has its risk, why it was left, the fix and how to verify it; the
exposure checks were run against the live server on 2026-09-25.
CLAUDE.md, README and docs/operations.md point to it so no agent mistakes
this deployment for production-ready.

Tutor (prompt tutor-v3-stepwise-plain): plain text instead of LaTeX/markdown,
with rag/services/mathtext.py converting whatever still slips through; full
step-by-step solutions with a check before the final answer; three tones by
grade; the last 6 messages of the conversation go to the model and follow-ups
are no longer served from another user's cache; book solutions the checker
disputes are kept out of the context; a questionId gives the tutor the
practice question and the student's wrong answer. /api/health reports when
the AI credit runs out. rag_model_benchmark compares chat models on verified
book problems (run on the server; credit ran out mid-run).
Map: only lessons that have questions count toward finishing an island,
lessonIds[0] / nextLessonId is always the next lesson to play, and a finished
island stays finished. The Seyar characters (sigma/delta/pi) are seeded.
Audit fixes, each reproduced before fixing:
- the plan is stored on the order, so paying a monthly order after starting
a yearly checkout no longer grants a year
- opening checkout no longer demotes an active subscription; renewals extend
from the current expiry; expired subscriptions are not reported active
- one discount code per order and only before the gateway; a 100% code
completes the purchase; lost Zarinpal confirmations are re-verified
- the unused /api/payment/webhook "mark paid" endpoint is removed
- XP counts only answers recorded on the server
- 6-digit OTP, each code dies after 5 wrong guesses; POST /api/auth/logout
- a guest who signs up keeps their account and progress (test phones excluded)
- affiliate commission on the first real payment; guests excluded
- parents with several children no longer get a 500
- SQLite runs transactions IMMEDIATE, since it ignores select_for_update
- admin login is rate-limited; display names drop phone numbers and links;
userQuestion is capped at 2000 characters
- server-side heart enforcement exists behind HEARTS_ENFORCED (off until the
frontend handles 403 no_hearts)
Not done on purpose: rotating the server's secret key and moving to Postgres.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Found in a deeper pass over what the frontend's flow actually touches:
- Nothing in the app ever wrote StreakRecord: "days in a row" was 0 forever
for every real user. Answers and lesson/island completions now record the
day (Tehran time); a broken chain shows 0. A streak error never fails the
answer itself.
- /api/leaderboard only changed when someone ran rebuild_leaderboard by
hand. It is now computed live (60s cache); weekly counts island XP too.
- gunicorn ran 3 sync workers with a 30s timeout, so every "ask Pi" stream
pinned a whole worker (~10s, GapGPT buffers the answer) and three at once
queued the entire API. gunicorn.conf.py (read automatically from the
working directory) switches to gthread, 8 threads, 120s timeout.
- Every /api/ response now says Cache-Control: private, no-store, so turning
on caching in the ArvanCloud panel can never serve one student another's data.
- /api/user/summary named no active plan ever ("subscription app not
implemented yet" had long stopped being true).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ZARINPAL_REDIRECT_URL was empty on the server, so after a real (non-sandbox)
payment the callback answered with {"orderId","status"} on the API domain and
the student was stranded there. It now defaults to FRONTEND_URL
(https://math.tadrisino2.ir/) with ?orderId=&status=; reopening a finished
order's pay link goes back to the app the same way. "-" keeps the old JSON.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The frontend plays node quizzes, but a node only completed once every one of its
8-13 lessons was completed separately, so students were stuck after the first
island of each unit. POST /api/nodes/{id}/quiz/complete now completes the node
(any score; score only sets stars/xp) and returns nextNodeId.
Also closes the other backend gaps found while auditing the frontend:
- /api/ai/ask without lessonId now picks the book from the user's grade instead
of skipping retrieval, so the "ask Pi" tab is grounded in the textbook.
- guest sessions return a refreshToken; they used to go silently 401 after 1h.
- lesson_complete throttle 10/hour -> 120/hour (a lesson here is 1-2 questions).
- progressPercent is per grade, not over all 2,617 lessons of every grade.
- a one-year plan (299,000 toman) is created by migration when no plan exists.

A shared guest account was hand-seeded into the production DB on 2026-09-22 so
the frontend developer could see the notification and leaderboard screens before
any real traffic exists: deviceId "frontend-test-device", user 6, with 24
Notification rows and 20 LeaderboardEntry rows across both periods, ordered
differently per period so the ?period= parameter is visibly doing something.
None of that was recorded in the repo. db.sqlite3 is gitignored, so the account
existed only in the head of whoever set it up — exactly the kind of thing that
disappears at a handoff. It is now in docs/frontend/README.md, where the
frontend developer looks, and in docs/operations.md, where whoever runs the
server looks.
Verified against production before writing it down: the account still resolves
to user 6 with isNewUser false, notifications return rows, and both leaderboard
periods return six entries. The notifications payload is keyed "items", not
"results", which is noted because it is easy to read as an empty response.
The operations entry carries the warning that matters: this is hand-written data
in a production database, purge_demo_data will not catch it (it only matches
[SEED]/[DEMO] prefixes on Grade/Plan/Character/User), and it has to go before
real users arrive or they will see invented notifications.
The Swagger description now says a deviceId can be any string and that
pre-seeded ones exist on request, but deliberately does not print the specific
value: /api/docs/ is reachable from the public internet, and a public API
reference should not advertise a shared account that anyone can sign into.

The README had grown into a 295-line mixture of onboarding, an ops runbook, a
content-authoring workflow, bulk question generation and a Docker log stack. A
reader arriving at the repo could not tell in ten seconds what this service is,
whether it is live, or where to start, and five of its claims no longer matched
the code:
- it said to export .env values by hand; settings.py has loaded .env through
python-dotenv for a while now
- it listed six variables as "everything the app actually reads"; .env.example
has carried many more than that for some time
- it called DJANGO_SECRET_KEY, DJANGO_ALLOWED_HOSTS and CACHE_URL required in
production; all three now have working defaults, and the app boots without
them on purpose so a partial .env cannot take the service down
- it claimed there is no insecure SECRET_KEY fallback; there is one, under DEBUG
- it required Python 3.12 while the project runs on 3.11 (Docker uses 3.12)
The README now states what the service is, where it runs, how healthy it is and
how to get it running in six commands, then links onward. Procedures moved to
docs/operations.md, docs/content-authoring.md, docs/architecture.md and
docs/docker.md, which is where someone follows a procedure rather than skims it.
Nothing was dropped; the deploy one-liner now includes the separate sudo restart
that deploy.sh cannot perform itself, and backup/restore is written down for the
first time.
Every number in the README was measured rather than quoted: content counts from
the live /api/health and content/seed/curriculum.json, 55 endpoints from the
generated OpenAPI schema, 481 tests from a full run.
